FirstMix USB DJ Controller by Gemini
Gemini, known for manufacturing a number of DJ equipment and mixers, has released FirstMix, a DJ controller that can be plugged into a USB port.
The device features two touch-sensitive jog wheels, a bunch of rotaries, and a cross fader. It sources music from iTunes or other music library, then plays them in the installed Cross LE DJ software. If your laptop already has Traktor, Virtual DJ, Algoriddim’s DJAY, or any other popular DJ software, you would be glad to know that FirstMix is also compatible with these.
FirstMix received the “Best in Show” award at this year’s Winter NAMM show. The device is aimed for aspiring DJs who want to learn digital DJ-ing using actual controls on the deck. Who knows? You would be so adept at controlling it you would eventually make your own music using real decks, just like the greatest DJs in the world.
The FirstMix USB DJ Controller is expected to be available at selected electronics stores beginning May 2011, costing US$79.95.
